Sean’s Song

(David Trabue: Boiled Strings Music)

Tune up that guitar, and pull it to your chest.

Make sure that it’s a Martin. That’s the one that I like best.

Old Robin with his Dobro, and Sean on mandolin;

Their road goes on forever, and their party never ends.

Now we’re gonna do some pickin’ and some singin’ of a tune.

Have a toast to long lost partners, who departed way too soon.

And I’ll wonder how the hell I hung around here for this long.

But I won’t lose any sleep unless I’m writin’ a new song….

Another year has rounded, and a big one I must share.

If I’d known I’d hang around this long I’d of taken better care.

Funny I don’t feel it, ‘cept a little in my feet.

But my hands are working good enough to strum a poundin’ beat.

Now we’re gonna do some pickin’ and some singin’ of a song.

Have a toast to long lost partners, who have been away too long.

And I’ll wonder how the hell I seem to still be here today.

But I won’t waste any time ‘cause there’s some music left to play….

Pick a song for Pappy, he’s a trainman through & through

Workin’ on the L&N and he raised a family too.

Play another one for Grandad, as an Agent he did shine.

With the REA behind him, made those hobos toe the line.

Now we’re gonna do some singin’, tell some stories of the past,

With a toast to those before us and we’ll make their stories last.

And it’s all there in the magic of the music rolling on

It’s the way we’re put together just to put it in the song.
