Beargrass Creek

David Trabue

In the summer I’d go wandering, through your waters I would roam.

My favorite part ofLouisville across the town from home.

The swimming hole at Big Rock holds some memories for sure

I’d hit the bottom, shoot back up in your waters sweet and pure.

Chorus:

Beargrass Creek - still flowing through my mind

A little part of my life that I never left behind.

Beargrass Creek -  still beautiful today.

I never will forget you even though I’m far away.

As I grew up the winds of change came crashing 'round your banks

Your path was not uprooted and for that I do give thanks.

The twister back in ’73 took all your shady trees

But you kept right on flowing just as pretty as you please.

Chorus:

I saw you once again when I came to town last Fall.

Your shady trees were back again, though looking kinda small.

But you still wander lazily, your peacefulness at hand,

A picture I’ll keep with me as I wander round this land.
